WDIV-TV REPORTS SUCCESSFUL 1992 EASTER SEAL TELETHON
DETROIT, March 8 /PRNewswire/ -- The 1992 annual Easter Seal

Telethon, aired locally on WDIV-TV (Ch. 4), raised a total of $1,010,719 from metropolitan Detroit-area donations, WDIV said today.
Local segments of the Telethon were hosted by the "Newsbeat's" Mort Crim with co-host Chuck Gaidica. The Telethon began Saturday, March 7, at 11:30 p.m., and continued until 8 p.m., Sunday, March 8. This year's theme was "That's what love is for."
Nationally, the 1992 Easter Seal Telethon raised $46,054,153.
Last year's Telethon generated $43 million nationally, with $1.1 million of that total being raised in the Detroit area.
Rosemary Ging, executive director of the Easter Seal Society of Oakland County, expressed her gratitude to the public, "Each year the Telethon kicks off the spring season and gives renewed hope that Easter Seals services will be made available to those who need them. This is the 20th year that metro-Detroiters have opened their hearts to people with disabilities."
In the tri-county area, the Easter Seal Society provided services to 38,232 people during the past year. Ninety percent of all funds raised through the local Telethon remain in Michigan, and 80 percent directly support services for the disabled.
