The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA), along with the NCAA NCAA abbr. National Collegiate Athletic Association , is again ready to put on the largest event surrounding women's basketball. The WBCA is proud to provide insight into the world of women's basketball to coaches, administrators and fans of the game through the pages of Scholastic Coach and Athletic Director Athletic director (commonly, "athletics director") is a position at many American colleges and universities, as well as in larger high schools and middle schools, which oversees the work of the coaches and related staff involved in intercollegiate or interscholastic athletic . This year we are heading to Cleveland, Ohio, for the 26th annual WBCA National Convention, held in conjunction with the NCAA Women's Final Four. The WBCA National Convention will be held in "The Forest City" on March 30-April 3. Each year we take this time to assemble all of our members and supporters of women's basketball in one setting to recognize and honor the stakeholders of our game. It is important that we celebrate their selfless contributions to the sport. In addition, the WBCA's National Convention provides programming that serves as an opportunity to learn, grow, develop professionally and network. This year's lineup of speakers is the strongest roster in 25 years so be sure to participate in as many programs as you can! While we trade X's and O's and enjoy all of the on-court programming, we also pay tribute to the many coaches and student-athletes who have touched the world of women's basketball in some way. These achievements are recognized through our prestigious awards program, which includes The State Farm Wade Trophy Wade Trophy is an award presented annually to the best women'scollege basketball player in NCAA Division I. The Wade Trophy, named after the late, three-time national champion, Delta State University coach Lily Margaret Wade. and State Farm/WBCA Players of the Year, Kodak/WBCA All-America Teams, RUSSELL ATHLETIC/WBCA National Coaches of the Years, Jostens-Berenson Lifetime Achievement Award and a host of others. Two new additions for the 2006-07 season are the Maggie Dixon Margaret Mary "Maggie" Dixon (May 9 1977 – April 6 2006) was an American collegiate women's basketball coach. Maggie Dixon was born in North Hollywood, California, and played basketball at Notre Dame High School. Rookie Coach of the Year and the WBCA Defensive Player of the Year. The WBCA National Convention also showcases the WBCA's High School All-America Game presented by Nike on Saturday, March 31, at 4:30 p.m. (ET) in the Woodling Gym on the campus of Cleveland State. This event features the top high school seniors in the nation as they give us just a taste of what we have to look forward to in their collegiate careers. Jaynes Internship Program Betty "Jumpshot" Jaynes has dedicated her life to women's basketball and for over 25 years, she has been a leading figure in the sport of women's basketball. Jaynes served as the Executive Director of the WBCA for 15 years, and on September 1, 1996 was named Chief Executive Officer until her retirement in 2000. Jaynes now serves as a consultant to the WBCA. The Betty F Jaynes Internship Program offers seven positions to qualified individuals interested in pursuing a career in athletics. The NCAA Division II poll was added in 1995 with the NCAA Division III poll commencing in 1996. ESPN became a sponsor of the NCAA Division I poll prior to the 1998-99 season.
