"Such attacks attempt to provoke sectarian strife among Iraqis, so citizens have to be aware about such plots, which targets Iraqi national unity," the WB said in a statement received by Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

The White Bloc urged all political blocs to unify ranks and favor Iraq's interests to overcome the current crisis.

A wave of bombings and shootings rocked Iraq during a major Shiite religious commemoration on Wednesday, killing and injuring scores of civilians and policemen, security and medical officials said.

The attacks are the deadliest to hit Iraq since 68 people were killed in Iraq on January 5, and come during commemorations for the death of Imam Moussa Kadhim, the seventh of 12 revered imams in Shiite Islam, which peak later this month. SH (TP)
