WATTMAN NAMED PRESIDENT OF GOLDWELL, N.A., COSMETICS SUBSIDIARY OF KAO CORPORATION

 ANNAPOLIS, Md., Nov. 18 ~PRNewswire~ -- Reinhold Wild, chairman of the board of Goldwell A.G., a unit of Kao Corporation, Tokyo, today announced the appointment of Kenneth E. Wattman, 64, as president of Goldwell's North American entity, Goldwell Cosmetics (USA), Inc.
 Goldwell's worldwide sales are DM 470,000,000.
 Goldwell, The Andrew Jergens Company, High Point Chemical Corporation, Kao Infosystems Company, and Kao Sofina Cosmetics, constitute Kao Corporation of America, whose parent, Kao Corporation, is a Tokyo-based $5.5 billion publicly traded company. Kao's principal products are in the consumer household realm, and include personal care products, laundry and cleaning products, diapers and other hygiene products. The company also makes chemical and data storage products.
 Wattman, president and a director of Kao Corporation of America, serves as a special advisor to the president of the parent company, and is now taking on the added responsibilities of the Goldwell North American operations. Wild commented, "Mr. Wattman has the experience and ability to motivate, and his primary role as Goldwell's president will be to structure and focus the business towards making the company a leader in the salon markets of North America."
 Wattman, with Kao Corporation of America since 1987, had served as senior
vice president of ICI Americas, a major chemical company. He was also associated with Armour and Company and the Atlas Powder Company. Wattman succeeds Wolf Tummler as president of Goldwell, N.A.
 A graduate of Cornell University, Wattman serves as a director of The Salvation Army, the World Affairs Council, and the United Way of Delaware. He is a member of the Rodney Square Club, the Greenville Country Club, the American Chemical Society, and The Society of the Chemical Industry.
 A native of Orange, N.J., Wattman currently resides in Chadds Ford, Pa.
