WASSERSTEIN PERELLA HIRES JOE STEIN TO HEAD EQUITY DEPARTMENT
NEW YORK, May 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Wasserstein Perella Group, Inc. (WP) today announced that it has hired Joseph Stein Jr. as a managing director to head its equity, sales trading and research department. Stein had been a general partner at First Manhattan Co., where he was responsible for that firm's equity trading desk.
"The addition of Joe Stein to our team is another important step as we continue to grow the sales, trading and underwriting side of our business," said William J. Begley, the head of Wasserstein Perella's sales and trading business. Wasserstein Perella first entered the sales and trading business in early 1989 through its Grantchester Securities business, which specializes in the sales, trading and research of leveraged corporate debt securities. Last year, Grantchester traded in excess of $15 billion of securities.
Joe Stein, a New Orleans native, was a 26 year veteran at First Manhattan. Stein said, "I am looking forward to building on Wasserstein Perella's relationships and my own to establish a strong equity business at WP. The firm has already hired a terrific nucleus of talented people in the equity area, and we expect to add more in the near future."
