WASHINGTON POST ANNOUNCES EXECUTIVE CHANGES

 WASHINGTON, Sept. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Katharine Graham has been elected chairman of the executive committee of The Washington Post Company's (NYSE: WPO) board of directors, the company announced today. Graham had been chairman of the board since May 1973.
 Donald E. Graham was elected chairman of the board, succeeding Mrs. Graham. Donald Graham, who had been president, continues as chief executive officer of the company, a position he has held since May 1991, and as publisher of The Washington Post newspaper, a position he assumed in January 1979.
 Alan G. Spoon was elected president of The Washington Post Company, succeeding Donald Graham. Spoon, who had been executive vice president, continues as chief operating officer, a position he has held since May 1991.
