WARREN FOSS JOINS DONALDSON, LUFKIN & JENRETTE TO HEAD NEW HIGH-GRADE BOND GROUP

NEW YORK, Jan. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Warren Foss has joined the investment banking firm of Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette as a managing director and head of the firm's newly created Investment Grade Capital Markets Group. He will report jointly to Leon Pollack, managing director of the firm's Taxable Fixed Income Division and Joe L. Roby, chairman of DLJ's Banking Group.
According to Mr. Roby, "The addition of Warren Foss signals a major step forward in our plan to expand our franchise in the investment grade sector of the corporate bond market. The structure of Warren's group, similar to that of our high yield group, allows us to align our investment banking activities more closely with the marketplace and our fixed income trading, syndicate and distribution effort."
Mr. Foss, 45 years old, was most recently a partner in the firm of Scully Brothers & Foss, which he co-founded in 1988. Previously, he had been with Solomon Brothers Inc. for 11 years, most recently as a managing director. At Solomon, Mr. Foss had responsibilities in a number of areas, including the creation of that firm's High Yield Department in 1985.
Mr. Foss received his B.A. in geography and economics from the University of Colorado in 1972 and his M.B.A. from Harvard in 1975.
Founded in 1959, Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette is a recognized leader in investment and merchant banking, securities research and trading, investment management and correspondent brokerage services. In 1992, DLJ managed or co-managed more than $24 billion of investment-grade debt, and, according to Institutional Investor magazine is the "quality" leader in fixed-income research for institutional clients. DLJ is an independently operated subsidiary of The Equitable Companies Incorporated.
