WARD'S REPORTS ESTIMATED PRODUCTION

                  WARD'S REPORTS ESTIMATED PRODUCTION
DETROIT, Nov. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- U.S. car and truck makers will

build an estimated 186,608 cars and trucks this week, 9.4 percent below last week's actual count of 205,856, Ward's Automotive Reports said today.
This week's planned output is 51.2 percent above the 123,379 vehicles produced in same-week 1990, which was shortened by the two-day Thanksgiving holiday, Ward's said. (On a daily rate basis, this week's output is 9.3 percent lower than year-ago.)
Twelve regularly active U.S. light-vehicle plants -- most of them operated by Ford Motor Co. -- are temporarily closed this week, as the industry adjusts production to weak sales.
1991-to-date U.S. vehicle output is breaking the 8-million mark this week, with production scheduled to tally 8,083,773 units, 11.4 percent below like-1990's YTD actual of 9,123,865, reported Ward's.
Of the cars produced this week in the U.S., General Motors Corp.'s share is 54.9 percent; Honda of America Mfg. Inc., 9.3 percent; Chrysler Corp., 8.8 percent; Ford Motor Co., 8.4 percent; Toyota Motor Mfg. USA Inc., 4.0 percent; New United Motor Mfg. Inc., 3.9 percent; Mazda Motor Mfg. (USA) Corp., 3.6 percent; Diamond-Star Motors Corp., 3.2 percent; Nissan Motor Mfg. Corp., 2.7 percent; and Subaru-Isuzu Automotive Inc., 1.2 percent.
