The man, who was not identified by police immediately after the chase ended, pulled over about 30 minutes into the pursuit and turned himself in peacefully. The pursuit began just after 2 p.m. in the 12000 block of Gothic Avenue in Granada Hills, where the Los Angeles Police Department "LAPD" and "L.A.P.D." redirect here. With his movements captured by a helicopter news crew, he headed toward Santa Monica and turned around. At one point he drove east on Pico Boulevard, past the Westside Pavilion shopping center. Around 2:35 p.m., he pulled over near National Boulevard and the 405, apparently after one tire went flat. He exited the vehicle and surrendered to officers.
