WAM!NET Finalizes Five Year Navy Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI)

Subcontractor Agreement with EDS:

WAM!NET, a global information technology solutions provider to the entertainment, publishing, corporate and government markets, has finalized a five-year contract with Electronic Data Systems (EDS). Under the agreement, WAM!NET will serve as a Tier One Subcontractor on the EDS-led Information Strike Force Team charged with implementing the Navy / Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI) program.

NMCI represents the largest Federal information technology contract ever awarded, initially valued at $4 billion over five years. The program will result in the creation of a new, private global intranet to provide voice, video and data services to the Navy and Marine Corps. Once completed, the effort will link more than 300 Navy and Marine Corps bases throughout the U.S., Iceland, Puerto Rico Puerto Rico (pwār`tō rē`kō), island (2005 est. pop. 3,917,000), 3,508 sq mi (9,086 sq km), West Indies, c.1,000 mi (1,610 km) SE of Miami, Fla. , Guam, Hawaii and Guantanamo Bay Noun 1. WAM!NET was selected to the Information Strike Force Team in October 2000 and has delivered services under a Right to Proceed agreement since that time. Under the finalized contract, the company is responsible for installing and managing the local and base area networks that provide intranet data capabilities to the Navy and Marine Corps for both business and war fighting purposes.

WAM!NET launched efforts to market and sell its network, storage, and hosted application and infrastructure services to the government marketplace in June 2000, following the company's approval by the General Services Administration The General Services Administration (GSA) was established by section 101 of the Federal Property and Administrative Services Act of 1949 (40 U.S.C.A. § 751). WAM!NET officials highlighted the NMCI contract as an important component of the company's plan to achieve profitable growth.

Company Secures $30 Million Bank Line:

Additionally, WAM!NET announced that it has closed a $30 million bank line of credit. WAM!NET officials said they plan to use the funds for the company's working capital needs.

Additional details associated with the EDS contract and line of credit were not disclosed.
