WALT DISNEY IMAGINEERING PROMOTES MORRIS TO SHOW DIRECTOR

GLENDALE, Calif., March 30 /PRNewswire/ -- The promotion of Tom Morris to show director, Euro Disneyland, Walt Disney Imagineering, has been announced by Imagineering Senior Vice Presidents Maggie Elliott and Tony Baxter.
Walt Disney Imagineering is the master-planning, creative development, design, engineering, production and project management subsidiary of The Walt Disney Co. (NYSE: DIS), responsible for the creation of Disney theme parks and their expansion.
Elliott and Baxter cited Morris' exemplary creative direction for Euro Disneyland's Fantasyland, which opened last April. "Tom successfully led teams of artists, architects, writers and engineers in the four-year development of a new version of the symbolic Disney castle and a fairy tale village that translates European fables and classic Disney animation into three-dimensional reality," said Baxter.
Morris will direct all ideas in development to expand the capacity of Euro Disneyland. Current plans call for the addition of several new attractions and enhancements this spring and summer, as well as major new attractions planned for later in the decade. Morris will also art direct the enhancement and show quality programs that support park maintenance. He will report to Baxter, and work closely with the WDI staff at Euro Disneyland.
Morris began his Disney career in 1973, selling balloons at Disneyland. He transferred to Disneyland Operations four years later, and worked as a ride operator for Tomorrowland attractions. In 1979, Morris transferred to Imagineering as a draftsman. His first assignment was on the project team for Journey Into Imagination for EPCOT Center. He has since worked on numerous theme park projects, including a new Fantasyland for Disneyland, Star Tours, a proposed new Tomorrowland for Disneyland and Splash Mountain, which opened at Disneyland in 1989.
Morris was born in Hollywood, Calif. He studied communications at California State University, Fullerton, and illustration at Art Center College of Design. He resides in Topanga, Calif.
