QUARTZ HILL -- Firefighters, law enforcement, the military, and the region's youths were recognized Monday for their service in a 9-11 ceremony at George Lane George Lane (born 1940 ) is a British "mental calculator" and author. He is a three-times world champion and one of only three Grandmasters of Mental Calculation, as recognised by the Mind Sports Organisation.  Park.

On the fifth anniversary of the 9-11 terror attacks, a memorial wall honoring military service members, law enforcement, and firefighters was dedicated. The memorial wall was donated to the park by Danny and Donnia Brooks on behalf of the region's youths.

``Youth make contributions to the community all the time, but no one notices that,'' Danny Brooks said. ``When people see this wall, I want them to focus on two things -- remembering those who continue to serve the community and, second, to remember that if given an opportunity youth can be a great asset.''

The wall contains three bronze plaques -- one each for firefighters, law enforcement, and military service members.

The largest image on the firefighter plaque depicts a fireman holding a hose. Other images on the plaque include a fireman carrying a woman from a blaze, firefighters on a ladder working a blaze, a fire engine, and an ambulance.

The military plaque is dedicated in memory of all American veterans and depicts scenes from a variety of eras, including the flag-raising over Iwo Jima Iwo Jima (ē`wō jē`mə, ē`wô), Jap. Images on the law enforcement plaque include a policeman walking a beat, a motorcycle officer, a K-9 unit and an officer talking with a child.

Donnia Brooks said the wall is very emotional for her because her father was a career Air Force pilot. The wall keeps ``in your heart'' the respect for the military and those in law enforcement and firefighting.

``We can't thank them enough,'' Donnia Brooks said of firefighters, law enforcement, and the military. ``It's a miracle It's a Miracle was a television show that aired on PAX-TV (now Independent Television) between September 6, 1998 and September 1, 2004.[1] Initially hosted by Richard Thomas[2], and later by Roma Downey, [3]  we have people who do this.''

It took about three years to take the idea and turn it into a reality. The wall cost about $8,000.

State Sen. George Runner, R-Lancaster, said the wall will help areas to never forget what happened on 9-11.

``It's going to be an anchor, a memorial for future generations,'' Runner said.

Lockhart noted the efforts of firefighters, law enforcement, and regular citizens who risked their lives to help others out of the World Trade Center towers. Many of those who did so perished that day.

``If it hadn't been for their efforts, many, many others would have lost their lives. That sacriface cannot be forgotten,'' Lockhart said. ``I cannot think of a better way to honor the victims than to continue to build for a safer future.''
