 American American, river, 30 mi (48 km) long, rising in N central Calif. in the Sierra Nevada and flowing SW into the Sacramento River at Sacramento. The discovery of gold at Sutter's Mill (see Sutter, John Augustus) along the river in 1848 led to the California gold rush of  Heart Walk and 5K Fun Run has drawn thousands of exercise enthusiasts, all dedicated to fighting heart disease and stroke.

Walkers and runners are slated to suit up again this year and take their marks Saturday at the Westlake Village Inn. Registration will begin at 7 a.m., with the walk beginning promptly at 8 a.m.

In addition to the walk and fun-run, the two- to three-hour morning event will feature a health expo, health screenings and entertainment.

Corporate sponsors include Amgen, Sav-On Drugs, Los Robles Robles is a common surname in the Spanish language meaning oaks, and may refer to:

The American Heart Walk is open to corporations, schools, churches, families and individuals, with T-shirts, jackets, vests, watches and cameras to be awarded to those who raise pledge dollars.

Proceeds will benefit the American Heart Association's ongoing research and education programs dedicated to the continuing battle against America's number one killers - heart disease and stroke.

More than 1,000 participants and spectators participated last year, raising more than $50,000 for the Heart Association.
