W.Va. couple marry at live nativity

Greg Barnett and Carlye Belcher met at a live nativity five years ago. Two years ago they became engaged at the Davis Creek Church of the Nazarene's nativity. Monday night, they were married in the church's recreated village of Bethlehem alongside the baby Jesus, Joseph, Mary, numerous shepherds and plenty of animals.

Belcher rode a donkey down the aisle before exchanging wedding vows with Barnett in a short ceremony.

"It was only right," said Barnett, 47, who has portrayed a shepherd in the program since its inception in 1995.

The annual three-night event draws nearly 1,000 visitors each night, said Carolyn Neely, chairman of the church's nativity committee.

More than 100 church members and their friends and family members take part in the nativity scene. Nearly as many animals, including a llama, donkeys, goats, calves, cows and sheep, also participate.

This is the second marriage for Barnett and his 43-year-old bride. Both will be wearing biblical costumes.
