W. TERRY MAGUIRE TO JOIN ABRH CONSULTING AS SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT
WASHINGTON, Jan. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- W. Terry Maguire, senior vice president of the American Newspaper Publishers Association (ANPA), will join ABRH Consulting Inc. on March 15 as senior vice president and managing director of ABRH Information Services, it was announced today.
Maguire will work with ABRH President Milton R. Benjamin and other ABRH professionals in facilitating new applications of information technology by communications media in the United States and internationally.
ABRH Information Services, a new unit of the Washington-based management consulting company, will assist companies in identifying and developing new business opportunities, alliances and joint ventures.
At ANPA, which Maguire joined in 1979, he has been responsible for the association's work in the law, telecommunications, government affairs, postal, human resources and international areas.
"During the past two decades, I have had the good fortune to work with newspapers and other media around the world in the development and application of public policy and business strategies designed to advance their future interests," Maguire said.
"At ABRH, I will be able to apply my domestic and international experiences in a tailored way with individual newspapers and others as they reach important strategic crossroads in the months ahead," Maguire said.
"The opportunity to work not only with newspapers, but also with other information companies, to help reach the future more quickly is very exciting," he said. "This is a great chance to help companies turn information services into business realities."
Benjamin said, "the addition of Terry Maguire, with his unparalleled perspectives on changes taking place in the newspaper industry, adds a crucial new dimension to an ABRH team" that already includes senior consultants with strong insights into the financial services, telecommunications and insurance sectors.
"The reality is that all of these business sectors -- media, financial services, telecommunications, insurance and others -- meet each other in the rapidly expanding world of electronic information services," Benjamin said.
"There are numerous opportunities in information services for individual companies, but even more exciting opportunities for joint ventures and partnerships involving companies from different sectors," Benjamin said. "I am looking forward to working with Terry and our other senior professionals in helping clients identify and take advantage of these business opportunities."
In addition, Maguire is only the third general counsel in the history of ANPA. He also serves as general counsel to the ANPA Foundation.
ANPA represents more than 1,300 newspapers in the United States and internationally, including all of this country's largest newspapers. It is governed by a 22-member board of directors with which Maguire worked closely during his ANPA tenure.
Prior to joining ANPA, Maguire served as general counsel to the National Newspaper Association, the organization representing more than 5,000 smaller daily and community weekly newspapers throughout the country. He also spent several years as attorney-advisor at the Federal Communications Commission working on broadcasting and other policy matters.
