W. Equatoria Governor reaches out to the citizens of Greater Mundri to register.

By Richard Ruati November 23, 2009 (MUNDRI) -- "Efforts by the Governor of Western Equatoria State to sensitize eligible voters have extended to Greater Mundri region," a press release from the Governor's office has said. The Governor of Western Equatoria State H.E Jemma Nunu Kumba accompanied by the State advisor Paul Tambua, Minister of Local Government and Law Enforcement Agencies Col Samuel Bati, Minister of Physical Infrastructure William Ngalamu and the commanders of the organized forces of WES. According to the Governor's Press Secretary, "Jemma was warmly received by the County Commissioner of Mundri West and the people of Greater Mundri." The Governor stated the reason of her visit as to offer support to the commissioner and the citizens of Mundri and to emphasize on the importance of the ongoing crucial Voter registration process. Kumba stressed that, "every individual should register, to his/her solidarity as a citizen of WES and South Sudan, adding that, this registration process shall be used for referendum and shall send the voice of the Sudanese people to the international Community that, the census result was not genuine." The County Commissioner of Mundri West, Bullen Abiatara appreciated the efforts of the State Governor. He assured Kumba who is also the state SPLM chairperson that, "the Greater Mundri is for SPLM, "people here are more understanding and cooperating with SPLM," the Commissioner rhetorical said. The Sudanese National Elections Commission (NEC) announced a six day delay to the elections in order to allow more time for voters to register amid widespread criticism on the process. Sudan state media carried a statement by the NEC saying that the voter registration deadline was extended till December 7th instead of November 30th and the elections date was moved up to April 11th 2010 instead of April 5th 2010. VOTER REGISTRATION BONANZA IN WESTERN EQUATORIA Many in WES living in extreme poverty, hunger and frequent deadly attacks by Ugandan rebels make life in the region extremely tough. The Voter registration exercise has prompted many politicians to remember the villagers, coupled with visits and donations from the State Governor; of recent the donations are on the high peak, compared to other states, the WES tops in donations. Local Analysts of Western Equatoria cast that, as the Voter Registration continue and General elections in the corner, "the remaining counties of WES which the State Governor has visited will receive more donations from the State Governor as their only Bonanza since the CPA was signed since 2005."
