 W. AXL ROSE INJURY FORCES RESCHEDULING OF DETROIT SHOWS
LOS ANGELES, Jan. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Guns N' Roses were forced to reschedule two sold-out shows near Detroit this Friday and Saturday (Jan. 17 and 18) because of injuries sustained by singer W. Axl Rose during a sold out show in Dayton, Ohio last night. The band will now play Palace of Auburn Hills in Auburn Hills, Mich. on April 13 and 14.
Last night, during "It's So Easy," four songs into GNR's show, the weld on Rose's mike stand broke causing a deep laceration running from his thumb across the palm of his hand. Rose wrapped his hand in towels to contain the bleeding and, fighting off shock, insisted on finishing the show before he would allow paramedics to tend to him. Immediately after the show Rose was rushed to a doctor in Dayton who stitched up the deep gash. Fearing permanent nerve damage that would prevent him from playing keyboards, Rose was then flown to New York to see a hand specialist for surgery.
Rose's piano playing on "November Rain" is one of the critical highlights of the marathon GNR shows.
"It's a major disappointment," said a spokesperson for the band. "The guys were really looking forward to playing Detroit again. They hadn't been there since they opened for Aerosmith while touring to promote their first album, "Appetite For Destruction."
GNR's current headling world tour will resume Tuesday, Jan. 21, with a sold out show at the Target Center in Minneapolis.
