As a high school senior applying to colleges, Vuturo qualified for an astonishing $885,000 in aid offers. In this thick guide, he helps readers understand the scholarship application process and thereby increase their chances of getting money for school, with detailed advice on assembling an application, writing essays, and preparing for an interview. The bulk of the book is given over to a directory of over 100,000 scholarships, arranged alphabetically by provider: for example, National Black Police Association, ESPN, or Ithaca College. Each entry lists the monetary amount, number of awards, and deadline. In some cases, a paragraph describes qualifications and gives contact information. There is no index by subject, unfortunately--such as sports or music, for example. Still, the advice and listings here should give students a helping hand in locating scholarship dollars.
