Vonage(R) Selects Covergence's Eclipse; Deployment of Covergence's Eclipse to Play Integral Role in Vonage's E-911 Solution.


MAYNARD, Mass. -- Covergence, the first company to deliver a unified security and management solution for applications and services based on the Session Initiation Protocol (protocol) Session Initiation Protocol - (SIP) A very simple text-based application-layer control protocol. By deploying Eclipse, Vonage can intelligently route E-911 calls to the correct emergency services emergency services Emergency care '…services …necessary to prevent death or serious impairment of health and, because of the danger to life or health, require the use of the most accessible hospital available and equipped to furnish those services'  gateway, based on the customer information retrieved from the E-911 service bureau database. This will assist Vonage in its aggressive plans to meet FCC (1) (Federal Communications Commission, Washington, DC, www.fcc.gov) The U.S. government agency that regulates interstate and international communications including wire, cable, radio, TV and satellite. The FCC was created under the U.S.  guidelines required of VoIP service providers to offer reliable E-911 services. In addition, Eclipse allows Vonage to record and create records of E-911 calls, helping the company to easily and accurately view historical information, and ensuring that the Vonage E-911 environment continually delivers optimum call quality.
