Week after week, Mrs. Holzman rises early to help out at the foundation; she recently rose at 5 a.m. in order to head up registration for the foundation's annual September walk. The foundation's executive director, Marie Uhlenbrock, told the Enquirer that the foundation is fortunate to have Holzman: "She's dependable and gives 100 percent. We wish we could duplicate her." Mrs. Holzman has also tutored first-grade students in the Kings School District weekly for three years, and she helps kindergarten students learn letter sounds. She has volunteered weekly at the Cincinnati Zoo since 1974, making crafts for the Zoosters Treasure Shop to raise money for the education fund. At Christmastime, she is the zoo's "Mrs. Claus" and dons her costume to read to preschoolers. This busy mother of five and grandmother of 12 has also been a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha Epsilon Sigma Alpha International is a non-collegiate service organization for women and men ages 18 and older. The organization states that its purpose is to inspire leadership and service by bringing good people together to pursue programs and projects that make a positive , a national philanthropic organization, for 30 years.
