Volume-Controlling Acoustic Panels

Drums too LOUD? ClearSonic Manufacturing makes portable acoustic panels that are designed to provide acoustic separation as well as instrument volume reduction. 48" or 66" tall systems can be configured using up to six 24"-wide clear acrylic panel sections. The sections are connected together using heavy-duty, full-length transparent hinges and have a cable pass opening between each panel. ClearSonic Panels arrive assembled and fold "accordion accordion, musical instrument consisting of a rectangular bellows expanded and contracted between the hands. Buttons or keys operated by the player open valves, allowing air to enter or to escape. The air sets in motion free reeds, frequently made of metal.  style" for easy transport and storage. Smaller A2 systems for guitar cabinets also available. Options include sound absorbing foam attachments, zippered zip·pered

New for 1999 is the W4-6 Sorber, a low-cost portable system made from six four-foot-high hardboard hardboard: see composition board.  sections connected using the same heavy-duty hinge that holds ClearSonic Panel systems together. When covered with four boxes of ClearSonic F3-6 acoustic foam Acoustic foam is typically open-celled. It attenuates airborne sound waves by increasing air resistance, thus reducing the amplitude of the waves. The energy is dissipated as heat.

Many acoustic foam products are treated with dyes and/or fire retardants.

, 3"-thick sound-soaking foam. Designed to complement the ClearSonic Panel, Sorber reduces the sound escaping behind the drums, bouncing off rear walls, ultimately ending up back in the room. This stray sound, if not absorbed, could cause the kit to sound more "roomy" than desired.
