Vodavi Announces Next Generation Software for Its Digital Telecommunications Systems.

Vodavi Technology Inc. (NASDAQ:VTEK) Monday announced the introduction of Feature Package 3.0, the latest version of the company's STARPLUS(R) TRIAD and infinite(R) digital phone system software.

This Feature Package 3.0 release provides customers with enhancements that allow users to customize phone numbering plans and implement a new Large Screen Display phone with interactive feature menu for most commonly used features. Feature Package 3.0 will be commercially available in May 2000.

Highlights of the New System Software

-- Flexible Numbering. Users can customize the switch's current system default
numbering plan to accommodate their own specific numbering requirements.
Station numbers, pilot numbers, feature access code numbers as well as the
length of these numbers may also be modified to meet specific customer
applications. For example, in a school application the system can be programmed
such that the classroom number is the same as the extension number. DID lines
can now also match the extension numbers, whereas prior to this release the
default numbering plan was implemented.

-- Large Screen Display Phone. This new phone features a large, easy to see and
read LCD that predominately displays and allows one-touch access to an
interactive menu of commonly used telephone features such as DND, last number
redial, voice mail, speed dial, call park and more.

-- E911 Upgrade. This important upgrade to E911 Alert provides better
processing of emergency requests by giving 911 call priority status in the
systems and alerting the internal attendant of the specific extension that
placed the emergency call. In addition to the system's current safeguards,
integration with Proctor equipment will provide emergency services the ability
to directly identify the exact extension and address of the telephone that
placed the 911 call. This capability is especially beneficial when
organizations have the same phone system but geographically dispersed office
buildings.

Other features include the ability to attach an analog device to a digital system via the new Single Line Adapter and support for Extended Superframe on T1 making Vodavi's phones systems compatible with all T1 equipment.

Pricing and Availability

Feature Package 3.0, will be commercially available May 2000 through authorized STARPLUS TRIAD and infinite dealers. The software upgrade is available for a nominal charge of $100 (with WinDBA) for Vodavi's current installed base of customers.
