Vocati Enterprises Teams with GMPCS and Merlin SatCom for Emergency Communications and Continuity of Operations.

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. -- No Power, No Phone Lines - No Problem - As Innovative New Satellite Service Enables Businesses to Restore Telephone and Internet Service within Minutes

When a hurricane leaves the city with no power and no phone lines, an innovative new technology from Vocati Enterprises, called SAFR (Systems for Automated Failure Recovery), keeps businesses operating.

With SAFR services and a power generator, businesses will immediately be able to reach customers' via phone or e-mail, retrieve voice mail, and update messages to their employees.

Broadband Global Area Network A Broadband Global Area Network or BGAN for short, is a form of Satellite internet and telephony provided by INMARSAT. The system uses two geostationary satellites with additional satellites planned to be launched in 2007/2008 to increase coverage to global.  (BGAN) service via satellite operator Inmarsat is what makes this possible. Using notebook-sized satellite terminals, BGAN enables the delivery of Internet and intranet content and solutions, LAN (Local Area Network) A communications network that serves users within a confined geographical area. The "clients" are the user's workstations typically running Windows, although Mac and Linux clients are also used.  and WAN connectivity, video on demand, videoconferencing, fax, e-mail, phone and local area network access at speeds of up to 492 kbps. BGAN service in the United States recently received temporary FCC approval.

Working with GMPCS Personal Communications, Inc. and Merlin SatCom Applications, both located in Pompano Beach, Florida Pompano Beach is a city in Broward County, Florida, along the coast of the Atlantic Ocean just to the north of Fort Lauderdale. The Nearby Hillsboro Inlet forms part of the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway. As of 2006, the U.S. , Vocati has aligned itself with two of south Florida's premier Inmarsat BGAN providers. They maintain ready-to-ship inventories of all the BGAN products and offer around-the-clock operational and technical assistance.

"Until BGAN, a high-speed satellite Internet connection required an $80,000 dish and an engineer to install," says Dane Maralason, product developer for Vocati Enterprises. "Now for about the cost of a laptop, a business can get its own telephones and critical network components operating within minutes."

"We have conducted extensive testing of Vocati's SAFR system with Inmarsat's BGAN system sending simultaneous voice and data See SVD.  and it worked superbly," said Jon Klein, vice president and general manager of GMPCS. "Once corporate executives become aware of the capabilities of Vocati's SAFR service and the ease of its setup, we believe the system will be used for much more than just emergency preparedness."

Using SAFR, all of a company's voice and data services are converged onto an IP platform that is geographically distributed, accessible by satellite, and riding on a large Public Telephone Switched Network (PTSN) gateway.

"SAFR is especially valuable for continuity of operations The degree or state of being continuous in the conduct of functions, tasks, or duties necessary to accomplish a military action or mission in carrying out the national military strategy.  for small and medium-sized businesses because they don't have the redundant voice and data infrastructure seen in many larger businesses," Maralason said. "When a business must continue to operate inside a disaster zone, then SAFR CONNECT is the sure way to keep your voice and data services alive."
