Vocal fold polyp in a professional singer.A 41-year-old professional nightclub singer presented with complaints of progressive hoarseness, vocal fatigue, and breathiness. He said his symptoms had been present for several years. Lately, he had been unable to complete his 5 performance sets per week without experiencing significant vocal fatigue. Ten years earlier, he had been diagnosed with vocal fold nodules, for which he had undergone minimal voice therapy. His medical and surgical history was unremarkable otherwise. Stroboscopic examination detected a large right vocal fold polyp polyp, in medicine, a benign tumor occurring in areas lined with mucous membrane such as the nose, gastrointestinal tract (especially the colon), and the uterus. Some polyps are pedunculated tumors, i.e. and feeding vessels. Voice therapy was instituted, and the patient was scheduled for surgery.
