Because of its simple and precisely engineered design, the TVFMI implant makes the large number of different shapes and sizes used in other available systems redundant and keeps inventory levels to a minimum. Only two sizes--one for men and one for women--suffice to develop the variety of adaptations required during surgery. The customized design allows secure implant placement and a significant reduction in operative time. This is not only more convenient for both the patient and the surgeon, but it is also critical for obtaining optimal results because of reduced intralaryngeal swelling and hematoma hematoma /he·ma·to·ma/ (he?mah-to´mah) a localized collection of extravasated blood, usually clotted, in an organ, space, or tissue. .
