Technologies. Lewis co-founded and directed XCOM Technologies, Inc. at the time of the Telecommunications Act in 1996, before its acquisition by Level 3 in 1998. Level 3 made these patents public, which created the packet communications industry.

Lewis's next successful venture, set-top box vendor River Delta, sold to Motorola. His third creation, Caerus, Inc., empowered carriers and service providers to begin selling advanced IP services and realizing revenues and profits immediately. The market enthusiastically responded to Caerus' approach and service offerings from its three subsidiaries: Volo Communications, Caerus Networks, Inc., and Caerus Billing & Mediation, Inc.. VoIP, Inc. acquired Caerus, Inc. in 2005.

Today, Shawn M. Lewis oversees all operational, technological and engineering activities of VoIP, Inc., which has launched the most innovative IP services available today, such as Click4Me, the world's first Web-click calling service that utilizes Voice over IP (VoIP) technology for free phone-to-phone calling.

According to Rich Tehrani, TMC president and group-editor-in-chief, it is the efforts of the Top 100 Voices like Shawn Lewis that have enabled the IP communications industry to flourish and grow for the past nine years.

"Our committee looked back over the course of the last decade, and came up with 100 people who we felt should be counted among the Top 100 Voices. Some were present at the beginning. Some are newer participants in our fast-growing market space. The common thread among all of the Top 100 Voices is that they played a part in the birth, growth and maturity of the IP Communications market, and Co carried upon the shoulders of this community Co the next generation of communications will evolve to heights we have yet to imagine," explained Tehrani.

In addition to being profiled in the magazine, the "Top 100 Voices" will be honored at a special reception hosted by Rich Tehrani during INTERNET TELEPHONY Conference & EXPO West 2006 in San Diego - which begins tomorrow at the San Diego Convention Center (www.itexpo.com).
