Vitopel of Argentina and Koppol of Brazil to be acquired by J.P. Morgan Latin America Capital Partners and DLJ Merchant Banking Partners II, L.P.

 II, L.P. and its affiliates (DLJMBP DLJMBP Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette Merchant Banking Partners  II) announced today that they have signed an agreement to jointly acquire Argentina's Vitopel S.A. and Brazil's Koppol Ltda., two leading Mercosur producers of biaxially-oriented polypropylene ("BOPP') film.

Vitopel and Koppol produce, distribute, and sell BOPP film to more than 300 clients in Argentina, Brazil, and other Latin American countries as well as in the United States. BOPP film is used in a wide range of consumer products - particularly food and beverage F&B is a common abbreviation in the United States and Commonwealth countries, including Hong Kong. Cellophane is used in packaging and as a membrane for dialysis. It is sometimes dyed and can be moisture-proofed by a thin coating of pyroxylin. . Vitopel is the only producer of BOPP film in Argentina, with nearly 60% market share; and Koppol is the second largest producer in Brazil, with more than 20% market share. Combined, Vitopel and Koppol boast consolidated revenues of $80 million. J.P. Morgan Latin America Capital Partners and Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette Merchant Banking formed BOPP Holdings to purchase Vitopel and Koppol from Arcor S.A. for approximately $87 million.
