Vitech's Microtec Educational 'PC Package Provider' Status Extended Throughout Brazil; Secretary of Education Endorses Microtec's 'A Computer for Every Teacher' Project.

MIAMI, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 20, 1999--

Vitech America, Inc. (Nasdaq:VTCH) today announced that its selection as the "PC Package Provider" by the Conselho Nacional de Secretarias de Educacao (CONSED or the National Counsel of Secretaries of Education) has been extended throughout Brazil. Dr. Efrem Aguiar Maranhao, President of CONSED, selected Vitech as part of the nationwide effort to computerize public teaching. Vitech announced the pilot project for the state of Pernambuco, which serves as the model for this countrywide rollout, on June 18, 1999.

The project called "A Computer for Every Teacher" should reach about 150,000 educators in its first phase. Excellent financing terms and direct payroll deductions are offered as part of the incentive program to encourage participation.

Computer financing terms of 24 to 30 months are available through the Caixa Economica Federal, one of Brazil's principal financial and government institutions on very favorable program terms. The workstation is a complete package, consisting of a personal computer, scanner, printer and accessories. Bundled software includes a complete set of education software (authoring program, classroom management and electronic evaluation which was developed by one of Vitech's groups), Lotus SmartSuite Millenium Edition (R) and Microsoft's Windows operating system. The teacher's total package price will be approximately $1,257 (U.S. dollars).
