Vistaportal announces VistaView for peer-to-peer visualization and reporting of data for knowledge management.

VistaPortal Software, Inc., a software and professional services company that provides solutions for knowledge management and decision-making for the enterprise, has announced VistaView, the newest member of the VistaPoint product suite.

VistaView is the first available task-specific collaborative work space delivered as a decentralized personal portal to promote knowledge integration, visualization, file sharing and information exchange. Peer-to-peer and common distributed technologies are employed throughout VistaView.

VistaView consists of Web-enabled applications such as VistaRepository (JXTA based P2P collaboration and file sharing space), VistaQuery and VistaReport Designers (for data gathering from disparate sources and producing unified reports) and VistaBoard (a visual dashboard providing customized visualization and data analysis of the accessed data sources).

Project JXTA started as a research project incubated at Sun Microsystems, Inc. under the guidance of Bill Joy and Mike Clary, to address the peer-to-peer space. JXTA is a set of open, peer-to-peer software protocols that allows any connected device to communicate and collaborate. JXTA provides a flexible mechanism to securely communicate, command and control "peers" on the network providing users with better access to content across multiple devices regardless of location.
