Visible Unveils New Low-Cost Modeling Tool.

WALTHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 24, 1997--

Priced at $995, Visible Analyst Desktop Gives Single Users a

Powerful Graphical Analysis and Design Product

Visible today revealed a low-cost modeling product for single users who want powerful analysis and design capabilities but do not require direct code generation. Like its full-featured cousins Visible Analyst Professional and Corporate editions, Visible Analyst Desktop lets users develop and store data, process, and object models in an integrated repository for component consistency and reuse. Now, any user in any corporate department can model his or her business requirements using the latest business and software modeling tools.

This version comes on the heels of the recent announcement from Visible on the availability of a 32-bit version of the popular Visible Analyst multi-user software engineering tool that now supports UML (Unified Modeling Language) An object-oriented analysis and design language from the Object Management Group (OMG). Many design methodologies for describing object-oriented systems were developed in the late 1980s.  and IDEF1X IDEF1X Integrated Definition for Data Modeling  notations. Visible Analyst Desktop is also a 32-bit product.

"Many corporate departments and businesses today desperately need a way to graphically show their business processes and business elements, such as customer, product, and inventory. Visible Analyst Desktop gives both IS and non-IS professionals an inexpensive, yet easy-to-learn way to automate business modeling," said Product Marketing Manager Keith Harmon. "It certainly beats chalk boards and napkins, because you have a dynamic documentation of your business requirements. By modeling their requirements, departmental managers will be able to communicate much more effectively with IS in defining systems. Modeling business processes also helps managers to streamline and refine processes that may not be working optimally."

"A key advantage of Visible Analyst Desktop is that models developed using that product can be shared with other versions of Visible Analyst without modification. If a customer with Visible Analyst Desktop later realizes the need for code generation features, he can install Visible Analyst and proceed with application production. Plus, Visible's low-risk upgrade policy allows users to apply their original investment towards the purchase of the upgraded product."

Harmon added that Visible Analyst Desktop is an alternative to the company's EasyCASE product and that a utility interface is available that enables EasyCASE projects to be migrated to Visible Analyst Desktop.

About Visible Analyst Desktop

Visible Analyst Desktop automates the design and analysis phases of application development, enabling users to capture system design details and communicate them graphically. It supports a range of structured and object methodologies, including UML, OMT (Object Modeling Technique) An object-oriented analysis and design method developed by James Rumbaugh.
