Object-based applets written in Java will utilize VisiBroker's object messaging infrastructure to link with application objects on local servers or across the Internet.

The integration of VisiBroker for Java with JavaStation will be demonstrated tomorrow by Visigenic when the JavaStation is unveiled at Sun Microsystem's Java Enterprise Solutions in New York City New York City: see New York, city.

"The combination of network computers like JavaStation and distributed object technology like VisiBroker for Java is enabling a new era in business computing where it's now cost effective to bring robust graphical applications to the millions of desktops and locations that haven't yet been touched by the PC revolution," said Bob Macdonald, vice president of marketing at Visigenic.

About VisiBroker for Java

Visigenic's VisiBroker for Java is the first Java-based ORB and offers a truly open solution for deploying distributed enterprise applications across the Web. With VisiBroker for Java, developers can send object level messages across the entire computing landscape, whether it be via the Web, programming languages such as C++ or Java, standard computing platforms or any network location.

Java applets can be written to provide a robust and friendly user interface which can be downloaded as part of the web page. These lightweight applets can send and receive messages from distributed objects on the servers via VisiBroker for Java. Software objects created with VisiBroker for Java conform to the CORBA (Common Object Request Broker Architecture) A software-based interface from the Object Management Group (OMG) that allows software modules (objects) to communicate with each other no matter where they are located on a private network or the global  2.0 and IIOP standards, and are accessible by other CORBA 2.0/IIOP-compliant objects in a distributed objects computing environment.
