RALEIGH, N.C. -- Visara International, a world leader in the innovation, development and delivery of Console Consolidation solutions, today announces a new member to the Visara SCON SCON Server CONsolidation
SCON Serial Port Control Register (Intel 8051 Microcontroller)
SCON Scheme Contracted-Out Number (UK)

 family of products.

The Visara SCON-3074 Console Concentrator is designed to be a functional replacement for the IBM (International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, NY, www.ibm.com) The world's largest computer company. IBM's product lines include the S/390 mainframes (zSeries), AS/400 midrange business systems (iSeries), RS/6000 workstations and servers (pSeries), Intel-based servers (xSeries) (R) 2074 series of controllers. The SCON-3074 provides a means to support consoles for up to 128 LPARs spread over one or more IBM(R) S/390(R) or zSeries(R) mainframe computers, using either direct ESCON (Enterprise Systems CONnection) An IBM S/390 fiber-optic channel that transfers 17 Mbytes/sec over distances up to 60 km depending on connection type. ESCON allows peripheral devices to be located across large campuses and metropolitan areas. (R) channel or an ESCON(R) Director.

The Visara SCON-3074 Console Concentrator, running with LAN (Local Area Network) A communications network that serves users within a confined geographical area. The "clients" are the user's workstations typically running Windows, although Mac and Linux clients are also used.  Integration and Network Connectivity Solution (LINCS) software, provides host access for TN3270 clients. As many as 64 host sessions are supported through a single ESCON(R) interface to one or more Non-SNA hosts. A second ESCON(R) interface can be added to provide an additional 64 sessions (total of 128). LINCS allows the SCON-3074 to appear as up to 128 unique control unit images.

Each console session can be configured to be shared by multiple TN3270 clients, simultaneously if needed, through the Session Sharing feature. Console sessions can be configured as Hot Sessions, appearing to the host as if there is always a device powered on for that session. Users can connect to the session as needed as needed prn. See prn order.  without having to vary the session active.

Client connections are supported through a pair of 10/100 Ethernet cards. Each Ethernet card supports a single physical connection. The SCON-3074 supports up to 512 TN3270 type sessions in any mix of TN3270, TN3270e, and TN3287 clients.
