Visara International, Inc., today proudly announces the addition of the SCON-20L and SCON-25L to its suite of Master Console Concentration products.

The SCON product family offers the data center long-term reliable connectivity options, prudent asset management of existing equipment, seamless integration, effortless routing of traffic, reduced floor space requirements and secure remote access to meet a wide variety of host environments.

The continual goal is to bring the 3270 Legacy products into the Internet Age. Coupled with this seamless migration of the old and new is the support for multiple LPARs, ranging from two to 32 LPARs depending upon product selection. This allows one Visara SCON to physically replace up to 32 of the 3174/3274 products. By configuring for extra LPARs, test LPARs can be brought online without bringing down the consoles for production LPARs. Dynamically connecting and disconnecting to a console without it rolling over to the Alternate console is a Hot Sessions feature of LINCS 7.0 in the SCON product suite. Just imagine having the ability to roam within the campus or simply to shut off an office console and then reconnect at home -- all without operator intervention to vary the session back online. With multiple layers of security, shops can be run remotely with confidence.

The SCON products provide the ability to modernize data centers using telnet and TN3270 for dynamic local and remote console sessions while preserving existing investment in displays, printers and DFTs. Telnet gives the capability of a directly attached terminal with the flexibility of the TCP/IP network. Flexibility is further heightened by the availability of 10 host sessions for each display, screen prints to coax printers, and complete management of the SCON platform. Additionally, the 10 sessions, can be configured for any of the LPARs and function as a NIP console or a TSO session.

Both platforms come standard with 10/100 MB Ethernet, telnet and TN3270E support as well as legacy coax device support. LAN attached printers, LPD or direct TCP sockets, are supported so that screen prints and 3270 host prints can go directly to any location. These non-SNA console concentrators are direct replacements for 3174 console controllers, work with EMIF and ESCON directors and support the StorageTek LMU and IBM 3290.
