He will be presented with the award at the Xerox Hall of Fame and Jesse Owens Awards Dinner on Saturday, December 2, in Albuquerque, N.M. The event will be held in conjunction with USA Track & Field's Annual Meeting at the Albuquerque Convention Center, Nov. 29 - Dec. 3.

This is the fourth year for the award, which recognizes contributions athletes have made off the field of competition. Jackie Joyner-Kersee Jackie Joyner-Kersee (born March 3, 1962 in East St. Louis, Illinois) is a retired American athlete, ranked amongst the all-time greatest in heptathlon as well as the long jump. She won three gold, one silver and two bronze Olympic medals.  was the inaugural winner in 1997, and Olympic champion hurdler Allen Johnson

Pettigrew recently hosted an event that raised proceeds for the YMCA that featured a group of his fellow Olympians. After seeing Pettigrew's Olympic gold medal, one youngster Jamal Alutes, asked if he could have the medal. Pettigrew laughed and told the youngster that he would be happy to arrange a trade after he won one of his own.

"Antonio provides a wonderful example of how successful athletes can make a tremendous difference in the lives of aspiring youngsters," said Courtney Mangone, Visa U.S.A. director of event and sponsorship marketing. "He is a terrific role model, and all of us at Visa are proud to have this opportunity to acknowledge his many accomplishments."
