Dramatically Improves Competitiveness by Quickly Creating Feature-Rich, Reliable and Secure Handsets at Low Cost

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- VirtualLogix[TM], Inc., the Real-Time Virtualization[TM] company, today announced that the company will demonstrate how real-time virtualization enables the rich functionalities of Linux on low-cost handsets at the upcoming 3GSM World Congress, which will take place in Barcelona, Spain on Feb 12-15. With real-time virtualization software from VirtualLogix, handset makers are developing feature-rich mobile handsets on single-processor core chips, thus lowering bill of materials The list of components that make up a system. For example, a bill of materials for a house would include the cement block, lumber, shingles, doors, windows, plumbing, electric, heating and so on. , while simultaneously increasing security and reliability.

At 3GSM in its booth located in Stand 2.1B04, Hall 2, VirtualLogix will demonstrate its new, Mobile eXperimentation (VLX-MX) Edition for Mobile Handsets, a freely available edition enabling designers to experience the power of virtualization at no up-front investment. VirtualLogix will demonstrate VLX VLX Visual Language of Experimentation (modeling language)  for Mobile Handsets with NXP Semiconductors NXP (for Next eXPerience) Semiconductors is the name for the new semiconductor company founded by Philips as announced by its CEO Frans van Houten to its customers and employees in Berlin on Thursday night 2006-08-31 and to the global media early on Friday morning  (Stand 8B110, Hall 8) and Trolltech (Stand 2C72, Hall 2). VirtualLogix will also promote its active participation in the Linux Phone Standards Forum The Linux Phone Standards Forum (LiPS Forum) is a consortium created by a group of companies as an effort to create standards aimed at fostering the use of Linux on mobile devices.  (LiPS) at the show, underscoring the company's commitment to promoting Linux development in the mobile handset market.

"Linux and real-time virtualization are critical technologies for companies to compete because they enable the consolidation of functionality previously found in multiple devices into a single handset," said Mark Milligan Mark Milligan (born August 4, 1985 in Sydney, Australia) is an Australian football (soccer) player who currently plays for Australian A-League club Sydney FC. He is a utility defender, originally known as a Right-Back, but more recently playing in both Central Defence and Central , vice president of marketing at VirtualLogix. "By working with NXP Semiconductors and Trolltech, we reveal how a single-core processor running Linux can open up new mass market possibilities for the mobile industry. As a result -- carriers and consumers benefit through more innovative, reliable phones and services at a lower cost."

3GSM World Congress Demonstrations with VirtualLogix technology will include:

VirtualLogix and NXP Semiconductors (Stand 8B110, Hall 8)

VirtualLogix and NXP NXP Next Experience (formerly Philips Semiconductors)  will demonstrate how real-time virtualization software enables NXP to introduce the rich functionalities of Linux into low-cost feature phones on a 3G handset. The solution will show how a real-time OS (for the modem) and Linux (for the application) run simultaneously on the single microprocessor architecture of the NXP Nexperia cellular system solution 7210 for Linux, resulting in a 50 percent lower bill of materials.

"New mobile devices require the rich functionality of open operating systems Operating systems can be categorized by technology, ownership, licensing, working state, usage, and by many other characteristics. In practice, many of these groupings may overlap. ," said Michel Windal, marketing director, Cellular Systems at NXP Semiconductors. "By collaborating with VirtualLogix, we are now delivering open operating systems on low-cost, high-volume, feature phones by running the open OS together with the mobile phone stack simultaneously, on shared hardware."

VirtualLogix and Trolltech will demonstrate how its real-time virtualization software speeds the integration of Trolltech's Qtopia platform into lower-cost, high-volume feature phones by running Qtopia and its Linux host, together with the radio modem stack and its RTOS (1) (RealTime Operating System) An operating system designed for use in a real time computer system. "By utilizing VirtualLogix's real-time virtualization technology See VT. See also virtualization. , we enable OEMs to deliver top-of-the-line features at a lower cost," said David Bialer, who heads Trolltech's Qtopia partner community. "We are pleased to show Qtopia on a single core processor, as it illustrates how real-time virtualization software from VirtualLogix and Trolltech technology can provide manufacturers with a fast path for Linux on feature phones."

VirtualLogix - VLX for Mobile Handsets (Stand 2.1B04, Hall 2)

VirtualLogix will demonstrate how to speed the inclusion of open operating systems into low-cost, high-volume, feature phones by running the open OS together with the mobile phone stack simultaneously, on shared hardware. VirtualLogix will show how a fault tolerant The ability to continue non-stop when a hardware failure occurs. A fault-tolerant system is designed from the ground up for reliability by building multiples of all critical components, such as CPUs, memories, disks and power supplies into the same computer.  architecture enables the full operation of core phone services even when the open operating system operating system (OS)

VirtualLogix also showcases its VLX for Mobile Handsets - eXperimentation (VLX-MX) Edition, which is fully functional and provides device manufacturers with the ability to evaluate the benefits of real-time virtualization -- risk free.
