0.25 micron (CL025G) and 0.18 micron (CL018G) process technologies. The 1P, 2P, 3P and 4P MPRFs are offered in synchronous Refers to events that are synchronized, or coordinated, in time. For example, the interval between transmitting A and B is the same as between B and C, and completing the current operation before the next one is started are considered synchronous operations. Contrast with asynchronous. , asynchronous Refers to events that are not synchronized, or coordinated, in time. The following are considered asynchronous operations. The interval between transmitting A and B is not the same as between B and C. The ability to initiate a transmission at either end.  and mixed-mode architectures.

"The MPRFs are the most optimized buffer memories for use in high speed networking and multi-processor applications," said Mike Shamshirian, memory product marketing director at Virtual Silicon. "The 3P and 4P register files with fast access time of 2.5ns are ideal memories for multi-processor SoC applications where simultaneous access by multiple processing elements are required".

The MPRFs are available in synchronous read/synchronous write, asynchronous read/asynchronous write and asynchronous read/synchronous write architectures. Other major features of these memories are bit write, three mux options and output enable. The MPRFs are now available on TSMC's CL025G and CL018G process technologies. Designers can use the web instance generators on Virtual Silicon web site to evaluate different configurations for optimal solution.
