Virginia: Bailey named director.


Patty Bailey, former acting park and recreation director for the city of Pico Rivera Pico Rivera (pē`kō rĭvĕr`ə), city (1990 pop. 59,177), Los Angeles co., SW Calif., SE of Los Angeles on the San Gabriel and Rio Hondo rivers; inc. 1958 with the union of Pico and Rivera into one community.  in California California (kăl'ĭfôr`nyə), most populous state in the United States, located in the Far West; bordered by Oregon (N), Nevada and, across the Colorado River, Arizona (E), Mexico (S), and the Pacific Ocean (W). , had been promoted to full-time director. She replaces Cindy Lu-Gans, who retired in May.

In her new role, Bailey will be responsible for implementing the parks and facilities master plan, and making sure park and recreation programs remain of the highest quality for the community.

Bailey was hired as a recreation manager in 1999 to implement Pico Rivera's new REACH after-school program. In 2000, she was promoted to the position of deputy director of the department, where she was responsible for its day to-day operations. Prior to joining the city, Bailey spent seven years as a recreation supervisor for the city of Lakewood and 12 years as a recreation manager with the city of Cypress Cypress, city, United States
