Virata(R) Corporation (Nasdaq:VRTA) today announced that its Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) software has been selected for use in future imaging and printing products from the Hewlett-Packard Company. Virata's UPnP software is expected to help HP provide customers with next-generation products that can automatically communicate and share data with any Windows XP PC or UPnP-enabled device on their home network. Product offerings from HP likely to incorporate the software include the HP Jetdirect family of print servers used to connect HP's printers, copiers, fax machines, scanners, digital imaging equipment and multi-function peripherals to a network.
