Vipers aim to go out in style at Arena; ICE HOCKEY.
Club bosses are hopeful of luring 5,000 fans to each of the weekend's games before the Vipers take up fulltime residence at the Whitley Bay ice rink for the rest of 2009/10. The Vipers have teamed up with ncjMedia, Galaxy FM, the Metro Radio Arena and Press Ahead to launch "Drive for Five", a memorable celebration of the North East's ice hockey heritage.
Many schools across the region are already selling tickets for the games, with the Vipers offering all children aged 16 and under free entry when accompanied by an adult.
There will also be face painters and cheerleaders, plus all players will be available for autographs.
The Sunday night action will also featuring the Stan Calvert Cup game between Newcastle University and the University of Northumbria.
An induction into the North East Ice Hockey Hall of Fame for one former star will be the icing on the cake during a very special weekend.
Vipers' general manager Jamie Longmuir said: "This is a massively important promotion for the club, not only for now but also for the future.
"I hope everyone is able to offer their full support over the weekend.
"We look forward to seeing fans for what promises to be a fantastic weekend of passion, entertainment and excitement!"
