Women's health is the effect of gender on disease and health that encompasses a broad range of biological and psychosocial issues.

In the Peruvian study - undertaken with the support of the Centro de la Mujer Peruana "Flora Tristan," Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia and the Centro Andino de Educacion y Promocion Jose Maria Arguedas - over 3,000 women aged 15 to 49 from different socio-economic backgrounds were surveyed in Metropolitan Lima and the department of Cusco. One of the major findings was the magnitude of partner violence: 51% of the women in Lima and 69% of the women in Cusco had experienced either physical or sexual violence by an intimate partner.
