Viking Components, one of the world's largest manufacturers of component technology, today announced the expansion of its flash memory line to include the industry's highest-capacity SmartMedia(TM) and MultiMediaCards (MMC See MultiMediaCard and Microsoft Management Console. ) available.

Viking's extensive line of flash memory includes CompactFlash(TM) cards in capacities up to 256 MB, PC Cards in capacities up to 1 GB, SmartMedia in capacities up to 128 MB, MMC in capacities up to 64 MB, and the IntelliFlash(TM) line of USB-enabled flash memory readers/writers supporting CompactFlash, SmartMedia, PC Card and Sony(R) Memory Stick(R) technologies.

Viking SmartMedia Information

SmartMedia, also known as Solid State Floppy Disk Card (SSFDC (Solid State Floppy Disk Card) The original name for SmartMedia storage cards. See SmartMedia. ), is a small, removable flash memory card for portable digital devices including popular digital cameras, digital audio players, PDAs, camcorders and laptops. Viking SmartMedia cards come with a five-year warranty and are available through resellers and retailers nationwide in capacities ranging from 16 MB to 128 MB.

Viking is a member of the SSFDC Forum and complies with SSFDC electrical and format specifications for guaranteed compatibility. Viking's SmartMedia cards can fit into a PC Card Type II or Type III Type III may stand for:

  • Hyperlipproteinemia type III, a risk factor for cardiovascular disease
