AUSTIN, Texas -- Vignette Corp. (NASDAQ: VIGN) today announced the winners of its second annual Vignette Efficiency Awards program. The awards are given yearly to leading organizations that use Vignette's Enterprise Content Management (ECM) products and services to drive business efficiency and organizational value. The Vignette Efficiency Awards were given out during the fourth quarter of 2005 at Vignette's series of worldwide user conferences, Vignette Village, held in Dallas, London, Sydney and Lisbon.

--Medical Benefits Fund of Australia

Australia's largest privately owned and managed health insurer, MBF of Australia has served Australians for more than 50 years and provides health insurance to nearly 20% of the health insured population of Australia. MBF uses Vignette technology on all key information sites, including the medical providers portal, the member self-service portal and the traditional public facing Internet. The Vignette system has shown its worth twice; a complete Information Architecture overhaul on the public site and complete re-branding exercise of the whole corporation.

--H&R Block

H&R Block is world's largest tax services company, last year serving approximately 21.4 million clients in 12 countries. H&R Block uses Vignette V7 on an enterprise scale to implement solutions which support the company's knowledge base, customer feedback and management of financial advice content. The most comprehensive of these initiatives, Advice Integration, successfully empowered business users to take ownership and manage tax planning advice used in multiple software products. Further, tax advice can be pushed on demand by the business into software source code enabling H&R Block to quickly update content in response to regulatory changes.

--The Royal Bank of Scotland 

The Royal Bank of Scotland, founded in 1727, is one of the oldest and most well-respected banking institutions in the United Kingdom, the second largest European bank by market capitalization and 8th largest world-wide. RBS uses Vignette Integrated Document Management to process more than 40 million financial documents per year at 12 Customer Service Centers across the UK, where the documents are imaged, indexed and stored centrally for easy access, improving customer service and internal efficiency and reducing the costs and workload associated with a high volume of documents. The same system also provides real-time access to customer requests and events for over 50,000 staff across the group, enabling better customer service. Vignette's image technology is also used to support the bank's Mortgage and Credit Card Operations.

--Ohio National Financial Services 

Ohio National today markets a variety of insurance and financial products through more than 30,000 representatives in 47 states, and, as of December 31, 2004, its affiliated companies have $19 billion of total assets under management. Ohio National uses Vignette Web Content Management and Vignette Portal to ensure that personalized and appropriate information is available to its field force in excess of 10,000 users spanning several distribution systems. Each system then has its own unique set of available products, state and federal regulations to follow and management structures, and Vignette helps Ohio National manage the individual needs of each constituency audience.

--Caminhos de Ferro Portuguese

Caminhos de Ferro Portuguese, Portugal's premiere railway system, uses Vignette technology to power its Web site for customers. Previously, CP's site was static and did not allow customers to access its services. Using Vignette, CP has transformed in its site in three months into a location for customers to purchase tickets online and track cargo shipments. This new solution has enabled CP to increase its sales, improve customer service and customer loyalty, improve content management efficiency and reduce operational costs, as well as extend this application into additional business units.

--Safeway

Safeway Inc. is a Fortune 50 company with approximately 1,800 stores in the United States and Canada with annual sales of $35.8 billion last year. Safeway is unique in that it has the need to target information to many thousands of viewers based on a diverse combination of selection criteria. The company also had the requirement to verify and report to store managers and upper management whether or not the content messages are being received or viewed by someone within each job role within its retail audience. To measure actual Web usage, a feature within the store portal tracks use of the portal's daily Web check report that appears in a reporting portlet on the store managers' page, providing an effective compliance tool.

--Intermountain Healthcare

Intermountain Healthcare is a nonprofit health care organization based in Salt Lake City that includes hospitals, clinics, health insurance plans, a physician group and affiliated physicians. Intermountain's Vignette-powered "Report Portal" is an application running in the employee portal that provides an integrated, single point of access to various reports used throughout the organization. The application exposes a report directory and meta information from a series of proprietary report management repositories--an inexpensive effort leveraged the portal framework to turn a series of existing into a high-value service for employees.

--South African Broadcasting Corporation

The South African Broadcasting Corporation, the largest public broadcaster in South Africa, successfully uses Vignette's V7 suite of products to support all of its Internet sites. The SABC supports 4 television channels, 19 radio stations, each with its own site, as well as an intranet, corporate Web site and individual program sites, all in 13 different languages and powered by Vignette technology. The SABC's site became the first African language Web site for South Africa, delivering on a government initiative to promote African languages. In addition to the promotion of language, SABC's deployment of Vignette V7 has cut operational costs, consolidated Web properties, employed workflows to reduce risk, and improved Web site scalability, reliability and security.

--Hennepin County, Minnesota

Hennepin County is Minnesota's most populous county with almost a quarter of the state's population residing in its boundaries. Hennepin County is using Vignette products to provide general access to more than 2,000 county survey and monument points that serve as the basis for land surveying within the county. The site contains Public Land Survey (PLS) information which allows businesses to obtain official data and maps via the Web and Global Positioning System (GPS) control data and maps. The Web site yields a common source of data to promote uniformity in documentation of land surveys, legal descriptions and other mapping products produced by land surveyors, land developers and real estate professionals within the county.

--Houston Independent School System

In a line of business not usually associated with leading-edge technology adoption, the Houston Independent School District (HISD), the largest public school system in Texas and the seventh-largest in the United States, stands out. HISD turned to Vignette to help centralize control of campus content by providing information in intuitive, browser-based administration consoles that non-technical users leverage to communicate and collaborate with the community, employees, and students. HISD has three distinct portals which are being powered by Vignette - an Employee portal, a Student portal and a soon-to-be-released Parent portal.

--JPMorgan Chase

JPMorgan Chase is one of the largest and most diverse financial services company in the world. Geisinger Health System provides more than two million people in Pennsylvania a complete continuum of quality health care. Geisinger, one of the early pioneers in healthcare, has developed a comprehensive clinical information architecture comprised of an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system; Picture, Archive and Communication Systems (PACS) for medical images; and extensive document imaging and management for all unstructured data assets across the enterprise. The primary application allows physicians to retrieve and view the complete patient record at the point of care from a single user interface, compiled from information across multiple systems but delivered in a simple, contextualized user interface that is familiar to them. --Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) of the United Kingdom uses Vignette technology as part of its casework management initiative. Since its implementation, the DVLA now has a workflow tool and imaging capabilities to provide electronic data to casework clerks to expedite problem resolution efficiently and appropriately. All papers are electronically filed and monitored, which saves the individual time consuming, linking and filing work.
