Viewpoints pounds 75bn system we won't use.
With the Tories certain to support keeping UK nuclear weapons, and senior Lib Dems noting their support, it's a certainty that the UK will spend up to pounds 75bn on a weapons system that nobody in their right mind is going to use.
There is a clear duplicity in the positioning of the London parties on defence and security issues.
On the one hand they tell us daily that the main threats faced by us are small cell terrorism.
Their response is to plough billions of pounds into a weapons system that will have no effect in combating this threat and would increase the dangers we face due to the likely proliferation of nuclear weapons technology.
Initiating a new nuclear weapon systems programme will be illegal as the UK is a signatory of the nuclear non-proliferation treaty.
It's immoral because the principle of collective punishment espoused by these weapons is something anyone with a shred of humanity should abhor.
And pointless because we wouldn't have an independent deterrent anyway as the guidance systems are controlled by the US.
