This video was produced to gauge interest in the field of homebirth and is only for general discussion, not as a guide to homebirth. She is a social anthropologist specialising in pregnancy, childbirth and the parenting of babies and young children. narrates the video in her delightful style, sharing factual information as well as thought-provoking statements. She stresses not only continuity of care, but continuity of the "carer carer Noun a person who looks after someone who is ill or old, often a relative: the group offers support for the carers of those with dementia carer n → ," meaning that there's no change of personnel or her style of care. Through various visuals and interviews with health professionals, the video succeeds in introducing the topics of why a midwife MIDWIFE, med. jur. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to Kitzinger speak, as well as watching the footage of homebirths. The video, however, may not be able to stand alone. It certainly succeeded in presenting information that must be followed up with more in-depth discussion, presentations, or study. It also succeeded in piquing my interest in seeing the rest of the videos in the series. It did not, however, teach me too many new pieces of information. I do think that the producers of the video are using this as a springboard to produce the rest of the series and perhaps will accept feedback from the viewers. Overall, I would recommend this video to new or aspiring as·pire intr.v. as·pired, as·pir·ing, as·pires 1.
