Veterans Health Administration Extends Appian's Contract to Support Third Phase of Data Consolidation Initiative.

Appian Will Implement a Business Intelligence Solution to Assess Service Standards for Ambulatory and In-patient Care

) has extended its services contract with the company for an additional 18 weeks. Worth over $100,000, the extension will cover the implementation of a business intelligence solution for assessing VHA Veteran Health Service Standards (VHSS VHSS Voluntary Health Services Society ) for ambulatory and inpatient care inpatient care Managed care Services delivered to a Pt who needs physician care for > 24 hrs in a hospital . The extension will also cover enhancements to the Office of Quality & Performance's (OQP OQP Office of Quality Programs ) Executive Briefing Book (EBB), further consolidation of VHA's performance measurement data sets, and training for the OQP staff.

OQP, which is responsible for informing the development of measurement standards for healthcare operations, measuring and reporting results, systematizing best practices, and credentialing clinicians, selected Appian in April of 2002 to drive its Data Consolidation Initiative (DCI (Display Control Interface) An Intel/Microsoft programming interface for full-motion video and games in Windows. In addition to implementing the SHEP solution, Appian will provide enhancements to the EBB interface and train OQP staff in the ongoing population of the performance measurement database. Released internally last February, the EBB provides an accountability framework for assessing the performance of the leaders, clinicians, and managers in the VHA by linking the administration's business strategies with performance measures to support improvement.

The enhancements to the EBB will go into production in mid-August, and the SHEP solution will go into production in early September.
