Noun 1. lyricist - a person who writes the words for songs lyrist and entertainer Richard Stilgoe hosted a songwriting workshop yesterday. He joined a group of young people to compose and practice a piece of original music that will be performed at St Georges Hall in December. The workshop, at Liverpool's Dolphin dolphin, fish dolphin, large, swift game fish, Coryphaena hipparus, also called dorado. It is of nearly worldwide distribution in warm waters. Dance Centre, is one of hundreds of free musical workshops being held throughout the UK as part of Youth Music Week. The young people from yesterday's event will be invited to perform at the St Georges Hall event on December 1 and 2, which will be the grand finale of Portrait of a Nation. Organisers hope the Portrait of a Nation extravaganza ex·trav·a·gan·za n. 1. An elaborate, spectacular entertainment or display: "Washington is an extravaganza of great buildings, greenery, and monuments" Larry Griffin. will be a "national celebration of local identity through the eyes of young people". Mr Stilgoe grew up in Liverpool and performed alongside the Beatles as lead singer in Tony Snow and the Blizzards.
