Governmental certification enables Transtates Communications

Associates to implement Verso's NACT Prepaid Solution in Nigeria

Verso Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: VRSO), an integrated communications solutions company, today announced that the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), the national regulatory authority for the telecommunications industry in Nigeria, has certified Verso's NACT(R) Prepaid Solution(TM) for use in the country. Verso also announced that Transtates Communications Associates, Ltd., a government licensed provider of long distance telephony services in Abuja, the capital of Nigeria, is implementing the NACT Prepaid Solution to support a new prepaid long distance calling card service.

Under the direction of the NCC, Nigeria is actively deregulating its telecommunications industry, awarding licenses to entrepreneurial companies to deliver a wide range of telephony services. Nigeria has a population of about 150 million in an area the size of Texas, but only has slightly more than 220,000 telephone lines. The NCC recognizes that the country's telecommunications infrastructure is currently under-serviced and is working rapidly to expand telephony services throughout the country by certifying key telecommunications solutions and granting licenses to companies such as Transtates.
