Vernier Networks intros special WLAN package for education marketplace.

Vernier vernier (vûr`nēr), auxiliary scale, either straight or an arc of a circle, designed to slide along a fixed scale. Its unit divisions, usually smaller than those on the fixed scale, permit a far more precise reading.  Networks announced recently a new feature package for the award-winning Vernier Networks System designed specifically to solve the access, management, and security challenges that wireless connectivity presents for educational institutions. The new Vernier Networks System Education Edition simplifies Wireless LAN A local area network that transmits over the air typically in the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz unlicensed frequency band. It does not require line of sight between sender and receiver. Wireless base stations (access points) are wired to an Ethernet network and transmit a radio frequency over an area  (WLAN See wireless LAN.

Equally important, the Education Edition interfaces with existing student databases to provide administrators and teachers with fine-grained, dynamic control of user authentication See authentication.  and access policy, further securing campus network assets while optimizing WLAN productivity.

"As computer connectivity becomes a more pervasive part of the learning process, wireless networks are gaining favor with educational IT administrators because WLANs are quicker, easier, and cheaper to install than wired LANs in most cases," said Doug Klein, CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  of Vernier Networks. "Campus behavior also assumes mobility, and wireless networks make mobility much more productive. On the other hand, wireless campuses can be challenging for IT administrators both to manage and secure. The Vernier Networks System Education Edition gives administrators the tools they need to simplify WLAN administration and to control user access--both automatically and dynamically--to ensure appropriate use of network resources at all times and locations."
