WorldNames has been providing multilingual registration and DNS (Domain Name System) A system for converting host names and domain names into IP addresses on the Internet or on local networks that use the TCP/IP protocol. For example, when a Web site address is given to the DNS either by typing a URL in a browser or behind the  services for its .NU Domain division for the past ten months using the same patent-pending technology.

VeriSign recently notified WorldNames that it had successfully completed the multilingual operational test and evaluation (testing) operational test and evaluation - (OT&E) Formal testing conducted prior to deployment to evaluate the operational effectiveness and suitability of the system with respect to its mission.  in Chinese Traditional, Chinese Simplified, Japanese and Korean (CJK) for testbed registrations of CJK domain names using the .com, .net and .org Top Level Domains. VeriSign recently announced that on November 10, 2000, its testbed will begin accepting registrations of .com, .net and .org domain names which use Chinese, Japanese and Korean language character sets. These testbed registrations will initially be registered in "HOLD" status.

WorldNames is currently providing its complete multilingual registration and DNS system and services to ICANN-accredited Registrars who wish to participate in the Verisign Multilingual Testbed process (see http://www.worldnames.net/press/pressreleases.cfm).

In partnership with NameEngine, Inc., an ICANN-accredited Registrar, WorldNames will begin accepting Asian-CJK language .com, .net and .org testbed registrations at its Website, http://www.worldnames.net on the afternoon of November 9th, US East Coast time. WorldNames is also recruiting resellers to participate in its registration services for the Multilingual Domain Names Testbed.
