Verio is the preferred supplier of Internet services for resale under the Arcstar Internet name by NTT America and ntta.com, its wholly-owned subsidiary, in the United States and Canada, adding a significant new distribution channel to Verio's already extensive network of more than 4,000 resellers around the world.

The launch of U.S.-based Arcstar Internet is the first significant line of business resulting from NTT's investment in Verio earlier this year and will enhance NTT's efforts to sell Internet-based services abroad.

NTT America and ntta.com will sell the full range of Verio services -- including dedicated connections, e-mail, Web hosting, Internet server co-location and consulting -- under the Arcstar Internet brand name, to multinational companies in the United States, particularly those with close ties to Japan.

As a result of its NTT relationship, Verio is already booking significant revenue and providing Internet transit Internet transit consists of two bundled services: the advertisement by an Internet service provider (ISP) of routes to a customer's Internet Protocol addresses to the other ISPs who constitute the rest of the Internet, thereby soliciting inbound traffic from them on behalf of the  service for international customers. Virtual private networks, for example, can reduce operating costs by using the Internet to securely connect geographically dispersed offices, eliminating the need for expensive leased lines.
